Mobile Hotspots
Borrow a mobile hotspot from Kuna Library
A mobile hotspot is a device you can use to connect a mobile-enabled device, such as a laptop, smartphone, or tablet, to the internet.
The hotspot allows up to 15 devices to connect at a time and have unlimited data available.
The hotspot is portable, so you can connect your device almost anywhere you are, as long as it is in the T-Mobile 4G network area.
Who can borrow a mobile hotspot?
A Kuna Library cardholder 18 years of age and older with a current library card in good standing.
How many can I borrow at a time?
Due to limited quantities, only one device per household may be checked out at a time.
Can I place a reserve on a hotspot?
Yes, the item can be placed on hold through our online library catalog or through the Ida app.
How long can I check it out?
Hotspots check out for 7 days. They cannot be returned to the outside book drop. They must be returned at the circulation desk.
What if I need help with the hotspot?
Instruction cards are included with the hotspots. If you need further assistance, please contact a library staff member.
Hotspots can be charged by utilizing the included power cord, via a USB port, or by using the wall charger.
What if I lose or damage the hotspot?
The hotspots are not owned by the KLD, they are on contract with T-Mobile. The Wi-Fi hotspot will be turned off remotely if it is not returned on the due date, and internet access will not be available. If the hotspot isn’t returned in a timely manner, this may result in being sent to collections. If the hotspot is lost/damaged, please contact the Kuna Library immediately. The replacement fee is the market value cost to replace the hotspot, which is currently $80.
What happens if the hotspot I borrow becomes overdue?
You will be sent an email asking you to return it by a certain date. Failure to return the hotspot on said date will result in the hotspot being turned off remotely, and internet access will not be available.
If this happens 2 different times on the same library account, this account will be blocked from checking out a hotspot for 2 months.
If this happens 3 different times on the same library account, this account will be blocked from checking out a hotspot for 6 months.
If this happens 4 different times on the same library account, this account will be blocked from checking out a hotspot indefinitely.
