IBOB

Idaho Battle of the Books IBOB

Do you wish reading books was a sport?

Join our Kuna Library Idaho Battle of the Books (IBOB) team!
Registration is open now through September 1, 2026.

What is IBOB?

IBOB is for students in grades 4-12. The books are chosen by the IBOB volunteer committee. Kuna Library District does not select, read, or endorse these books. Teams of up to 4 students (with one alternate) read the books listed below. As a team, you can decide how to split up the books or if you want to read them all. Some of the books may not appeal to you because of the genre or content, so discuss them with your team (and parents) to find the books that are right for you.

How it works

Teams read the books during the fall. We discuss pointers, build team camaraderie & listen to audiobooks while doing art every Tuesday at 3:00 pm for HS & MS teams, and 4:00 for Elementary teams in the Owl Room at Kuna Library.

In November, book information is shared with your team in a report and Q&A style.

In December, training battles begin.

The battle asks 8 “in which book” and 8 “content” questions. You have 15 seconds to discuss the answer as a team, then the team spokesperson gives the answer to the moderator of the battle.

You will have the chance to answer the other team’s question if they do not know it.

The winning team will go to the Boise regional competition in March 2027.
